Retailer: Honor tops smartphone bestsellers list in Jan–Jun in units
MOSCOW, Sep 4 (PRIME) -- China’s Honor became the most popular smartphone brand on the Russian market in sales in January–June, replacing Apple, the previous year’s leader, electronics retailer M.Video-Eldorado Group said on Wednesday in a statement.
“Changes in the rating of the most popular smartphones are explained by increased confidence and popularity of key Chinese manufacturers. If we take all main Chinese brands together, their share exceeded half of the Russian market of smartphones in units. Huawei and Honor show the most confident growth,” head of the group’s mobile electronics department Vladimir Chaika said.
Sales of Honor more than doubled on the year and the brand had 24% of the market in units.
The five bestsellers in January–June were Honor 7A, Samsung Galaxy J2 Core, Honor 8X, Xiaomi Redmi 6A, and Honor 10 Lite. The previous year’s list contained Apple iPhone SE, Samsung Galaxy J1, Samsung Galaxy A5, Honor 9 Lite, and Samsung Galaxy J3.
The nationwide smartphone market rose 6% on the year to 13.5 million devices and 12% to 216 billion rubles in January–June.
